How do Designs travel over "Time and Distance"?

Students in 6th Grade are exploring how designs travel over time and distance. We are currently examining Celtic Knots and their origins. These designs originate from the times of the Roman Empire. Students are also making connections to the Elements of Art and how using them can help create a beautiful piece of artwork. Please look at the gallery on the 6th Grade page for some amazing works of art!

Dr. Seuss

Art is an amazing thing. In order to explore art fully, we need to examine what others have done. Knowing a little bit about other artists helps us understand what makes us tick and possibilities we might not have thought about without seeing what others did/do. In class, we explore history and various techniques others use or have used to influence choices in our personal expressions . Below is a website that does a great job of exploring the history of Dr. Seuss. No matter how old you are, his creativity inspires to adapt creativity in all aspects of life. Please check back later in the year for more artists like De. Seuss.

Great Local Classess and Resource for the Arts!!!!

I get questions all the time from parents and students about where they can go to inquire about classes for both youth and adults. I have personally taken classes through BCA (Burlington City Arts). A link to the website is offered here. I am available to offer advice at any time for classes that might suite you or your students needs.

Burlington City Arts (BCA) has served the cultural and artistic needs of the Greater Burlington area for more 30 years. Our vision is to fuse a dynamic relationship between the arts and community, to nurture creativity and imagination, and to ignite a passion for learning through the arts. We run a range of arts programs from The BCA Center (formerly the Firehouse Center for the Visual Arts) and throughout the city, and have established The BCA Center (formerly the Firehouse Gallery) as one of the few exhibition spaces in the state dedicated to showcasing contemporary art. Coupled with our commitment to accessibility, The BCA Center and BCA’s Print + Clay Studio enable us to present an integrated series of art experiences that help set us apart from other art centers across the country and cement Burlington’s reputation as one of America’s most livable cities for the arts.
